How does the Ink Cartridge work?

As the Sentinel traverses back and forth across the ink fountain an ultrasonic sensor reads the ink level of the fountain, when it detects a low spot in the fountain, it adds additional ink only where it’s needed to maintain a consistent level within the fountain.

The ink cartridge dispenses ink into the fountain by using air pressure to force the ink out of the cartridge .

Does it use Oil or UV Inks?

The Sentinel Ink Management System uses all types of offset ink.

Do I buy ink from you?

No, you continue buying ink from your current supplier, only in cartridges instead of cans or buckets.

Will my current ink supplier have cartridges?

All ink suppliers have access to cartridges; the most common ones are manufactured by Ritter and Sonoco.

How do I know when to change the cartridge?

When the cartridge is low on ink the lights at the top of that Sentinel unit will illuminate to act as pre-warning. Then, once the cartridge is empty, the lights will flash, and an audible alarm will sound. Also, the ink level in the cartridge is shown volumetrically via a bar graph on the display of each unit, and on the optional Sentinel Host System that acts as a central console for the Sentinel.

Can I still use ink from a can for special colors or coatings?

Yes, the Sentinel unit can be tilted out of the way, or it can also be left in place and used only for ink agitation in “Plow” mode.

Will my system include the plows for agitation?

We include the plows with all systems, unless requested otherwise.

Where is the equipment made, and are parts readily available?

Yes, the equipment is manufactured in Texas, where a large parts inventory is also available for same day shipping.

How do I get technical support?

Sentinel offers phone support at no additional charge, in addition to onsite services for a fee.
